On Saturday 24th January 2009, the Auld Reekie Roller Girls bring you their first ever bout that will be open to spectators.
From 1pm at Meadowbank Stadium, we'll be splitting into 2 teams - The Highland Heathens and the Celtic Chaos to entertain you with an afternoon of fast paced, intense, live action ROLLERDERBY!
There will be entertainment, jeerleaders, merchandise and cake stalls, and of course rollerderby in all its glory!
Entry is 7quid on the door (or online til tonight at www.auldreekierollergirls.com) with free programs for everyone, and your ticket also gives you entry to the amazing after party at Studio 24 featuring Ceilidh dancing, an awesome DJ and the fantastic Firebrand Super Rock (the afterparty is worth the 7bux alone!)

This time we're going all Nautical on you, so come along for booze-fuelled, cake-filled, hot roller-chick, burlesque-esque, musical fundraisin shenanigans. And dress to impress, let out that inner pirate/sailor/mermaid/sea monster. my LJ is telling me its been 11 weeks since i posted here and i think the lj is getting a bit cross at me for not having done so, as its taken to 'prompting' me to write stuff like "what did you do in summer as a child" or "how well do you know your neighbours" its all very strange.
So yeah, here is a post! I am good and life is peachy, working far too much but the cash is needed. Ive been totally skint recently so not out much, hence not really seeing anyone recently, but last night i went all linkin park and did most definitely 'break'. it was great. Went for a lovely meal in Bonsai - totally totally recommend it to those who havent been. food is <3 and try the iced plum wine too :D then went out and got totally mashed. not really intentionally i was just in a total "i care not" mood. it was fun tho :D but god damn do i hurt lots today!
Just ordered pizza hut as a tonic to the hangover and today i refused to get out of my pyjamas :D
The next few weeks should be great, brothers birthday, reunion of old work mates, seeing my folks again for the first time in ages when they get back off their travels, and then the holiday to Barcalona, then a wedding in Airth castle, then getting my new tattoo, then a week off in august for doing festival stuff. oh man summer is so awesome and im getting really excited for it all by just typing this! hehe.

I woke up today (after drinking too much last night) with no hangover, false eyelashes still in place, muscles sore in that good way from the gym, looking forward to work being over and it being the weekend, thinking about my boy, thinking about the chocolate croissant im going to have at work, AND THEN Dave Lee Roth - Just like Paradise on the radio. Sometimes it makes me happy that life is so good.
Just felt like sharing that since its been about a year since i posted i think :)

Good god, its february since i last posted in here!
Well im still alive! i know you were all very worried :/ haha.
Nothin much to report really, its been a nicely quiet and easy few months. Still working hard at the science placey, all good. My bro graduated from Heriot Watt with a 2:2, all very proud :D Had a trip to london which was loadsa fun. Lots of other little things too! My memory is crap so i forget what i did really!
Festival-wise have some days off next week, so heading to the cardrona hotel in peebles for one night, then booked to see phil kay and ed byrne over the weekend (will be out sun/mon nights if anyone else wants to have a drink). Wanted to see Simon Amstell (the guy off popworld) but he is already all sold out :( Also saw Tim Minchin last weekend (hugely recommmend, i think you would all love him!) and did a wine tasting thing on a boat in the canal at fountainbridge. All very fun.
Im still terribly addicted to World of Warcraft (make characters on the venture co server if you play and then i can talk to you!) Also addicted to diet coke and green and blacks butterscotch chocolate (something has to fill my limited-alcohol void!)

i DETEST gettin up early in the morning, but there is something ace about
walking to the bus with not many people being about, the light just gettin
brighter and the crisp morning air. Its kinda neat. Especially when
listening to my wee 'mornin mix' which consists of:

So the last few weeks have flown by, some of the more interesting things i
have been doin include:
juliets halloween party, alisons birthday and opal lounge carnage, my
birthday party in aberdeen (cos my folks were away so free house!) with
LOTS of fireworks :D (and alcohol hehe) and getting lots and lots of ace
pressies (thanks!) Got a super-cool t-shirt off matt (and other presents
too) which i totally love and muchos alcohol presents which is always
appreciated :D and i bought some nice girlie beauty products with my harvey
nichols vouchers off my bro. expensive beauty stuff is soooo nice :D and
its good to be able to treat myself cos im so skint atm.
Um, what else, sheenas birthday last sat which we timed really badly and
turned up just when everyone was leaving, but was good to see folks, even
briefly. Missed the bluetones in glasgow due to skintness and laziness. Got
some Wild boar burgers from brian at the farmers market (castle terrace) -
go buy them they are delicious! Got offered 2 jobs last week (hehe typical
huh!) so now im sorted for permanent emloyment and i start in December,
hooray, and its a job i actually wanna be doin so its all good. Matt and
Hamish got loved by the scottish exec so their business is getting free
cash :D so if anyone wants design work done (flyers, website, stuff for
club nights, etc) then y'all know who to get in touch with now :)
well thats all my wee brain can remember atm. i know ive missed out 1
million things, but i care not :) |
